As most of you are aware, here at Team Satire we pride ourselves on ensuring the physical and mental well-being of all our athletes. We teamed up with Wheelie Access a short time ago because we felt that what they are trying to achieve is so close to our own ethos.
On Monday August 3rd 2020, Nathan Penfold, founder of Wheelie Access (a non-profit organisation) and his close friend Dean Charnley, also of Wheelie Access, are taking on a colossal challenge with the support of Nathan’s partner Michelle Lowrie (who is driving the support vehicle filled with additional equipment should they need it). They will be travelling from Prestatyn, North Wales to Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, England. The journey is over 190 miles and will take them 6 days to complete.
The wheelchairs are manually propelled (not electric), which will take a massive toll on their arms, backs and necks! So, they really are putting it all on the line.
They are trying to raise money for 2 charities;
Nathan is raising money for The Lee Spark NF Foundation, a charity close to his families hearts, that specialises in giving help and support to those dealing with or having dealt with the affects of Necrotising Fasciitis, a cruel disease that eats away at human flesh and can cause serious lasting damage to the body.
Dean is raising money for the NHS, a personal thank you for the help and support they have given him especially through the trying times of the current global pandemic.
Both of these charities are doing amazing things to help the physical and mental aspects of peoples lives on a daily basis.
We ask that you join us in celebrating their achievement and if you want to donate through their Virgin Money Giving page to raise at least £2000 then please do so.

They will be updating their socials with their progress throughout the journey, as will we, so head on over to their Twitter like, follow and turn those notifications on to keep up to date.
They are aiming to cover the following distances over the 6 days:
Monday 3rd august. Prestatyn – Chester (26 miles)
Tuesday 4th august. Chester – Market Drayton (31 miles)
Wednesday 5th august. Market Drayton – Birmingham (42 miles)
Thursday 6th august. Birmingham – Rugby (31 miles)
Friday 7th august. Rugby – Milton Keynes (34 miles)
Saturday 8th august. Milton Keynes to Kings Langley (29 miles)
So, if you live in any of these locations please show your support if you see them.
Nathan also asked us to mention Wales and West Housing Group, who very generously donated over £700 worth of equipment to Wheelie Access for their epic journey. Wales and West Housing Group we salute you!
All of us here at Team Satire wish Nathan, Dean, Michelle and all others involved in this challenge the very best of luck.
